Phononic Vibes designs and manufactures noise and vibration products that do the same job with less material. Founded in Milan in 2018, now a group of about 100 people with three production sites, working across Europe.
About us
Noise and vibration control has always meant adding material, and customers have paid for it by weight: on trains that carry it for thirty years, in data centres that give up floor space to it, on the trucks that bring it to site. The industry has treated that trade-off as physics. It is a design choice.
We started Phononic Vibes to change it. A conventional product has one variable, the material and how much of it you use. We design with a second one, the topology. That is how our products weigh up to 30% less at the same acoustic performance, or perform better at the same weight, and where all our research is heading next: lighter and better at the same time.
Founded in 2018 and grown through the pandemic, the raw material and energy crises and the war in Ukraine.
What we do
Eight technology building blocks, 18 patent families and our own design engine, with application libraries that grow with every part we design. It takes a technology from raw physics to an applied, certified product. Research and acoustic testing run from our laboratory in Milan.
Made on our own three production sites, in Milan and Parma. Installed by our own teams on site, or delivered ready to fit on the assembly line.
Timeline
Founded in Milan as a spin-off of Politecnico di Milano, building on metamaterials research at PoliMi and MIT.
Joint development with Deutsche Bahn and Mercedes-Benz begins.
Deutsche Bahn tests MetaVibration at scale. First installations in household appliances.
Pilots with Mercedes-Benz, and with Deutsche Bahn on the Hamburg S-Bahn.
Matis, a noise control manufacturer founded in 1979, joins the group.

Phononic Lab designs the technology, while Phononic Operations builds and installs the products, bringing together decades of customer relationships and shared expertise across the group. Each brand retains its identity, customers and products, while benefiting from the group's technology, operations and design capabilities.
Noise control manufacturer since 1979, part of the group since 2025. Industrial cabins, machine enclosures and acoustic installations, designed, built and installed in Italy. Now offers Meta lines designed by Phononic Vibes.

Parts of our research and industrial development are co-funded by the European Union and Regione Lombardia under the Italian cohesion programme 2021–2027.
Our largest environmental contribution is in the products: less material to make, less weight to move, for the whole life of the asset.
